Lighting, Other

In 2017 Peppercorns decided to completely revamp their building, removing the old stage and moving the portacabin outside of the main building creating a new space to work in. I proposed a new layout which included a bigger stage, and hall space to allow for multipurpose events. I also included plans for a new lighting rig, as the lead technician for Peppercorns it would have been my job to rig it and operate it anyway. The plans for the building were largely stuck to, with a few modifications to allow for more space. Whilst the building has largely remained since, the stage was extended slightly, there are far more lighting bars, and the tech area has now been converted into a walled office and control booth.

During the revamp I helped to remove the old stage, derig the old lighting and sound rigs, move the portacabin, and rewire the new lighting rig. I designed the rig so that the fixtures could move around, so I hardwired and ran sockets in to each bar. Previous iterations in the old layout used alpha packs or had been wired by others who ran cables directly into each light meaning they couldn’t be moved. Until recently the lighting set up included a Zero88 FatFrog with Zero88 Chilli Jr Dimmers, it is now a Zero88 Solution XL. For sound, we used a Soundcraft SI 16 Compact, and a Soundcraft Spirit Live 42, now it’s an LS9. The SI Compact is used for the recording studio.
