In January 2019, I joined Cambridge Junction as an apprentice. This involved working on numerous gigs, theatre shows, comedies, spoken word, dance, and corporate events to gain knowledge working in the professional entertainment industry.
During my time I have worked with a large number of fellow professional and casual technicians, and used a variety of different equipment. I’ve learn how to use ETC EOS systems (via a Gio and Nomad), Avolites Tiger Touch, Yamaha LS9, Yamaha M7CL-48 and a Behringer X32. I’ve also gained an IPAF for 3a and 3b machinery, a Bronze ABTT certificate, and have experience on a Genie picker, and experience using a tension wire grid.
Most notable shifts I have worked on include Enter Shikari (Crew), The Undertones (Mons), Eddi Reader (LX), Willie and the Bandits (LD/LX), Muckers (Crew), Fiver (FOH, LX, Mons), Pippin & The Crucible (Sound), and Wind in the Willows Christmas Show (LX). Myself and ops apprentice Abbie, were tasked to put on a festival called JunkYard which was a Junction apprentice-led festival that had been put on every year since 2012. I created the lighting design, and obtained the tech riders from each band to put together a big tech rider document for the technicians to use on the production day.
Below are various pictures from my time at the Junction, where I have gained invaluable experience. From April 2021 I took on a casual role.
