Having attended the Newday festival for a number of years, in 2012 I was given the opportunity to serve in a new area called Limelounge which was primarily a relaxed performance space for young musicians. Alongside this I also helped to load in and rig with TSL Lighting and experience how the pros do it. It was very tough, 50m runs of socapex is heavy, and I ached the next day. But I was thankful that they were accomodating and I learnt a lot. TSL also provided the lighting for the Limelounge, which unfortunately was a dimmer and PAR system with programs and no DMX control, so I acted as a stagehand and occasionally covering for my friend as sound op for the duration of the festival.
