Joining Peppercorns

In 2009 I joined the Peppercorns Academy tech crew, and this is where a lot of my basic knowledge came from. We were given a mix of different roles backed up with teaching which really helped me to develop. We got to play with better equipment than that of my secondary school Longsands Academy, such as Martin Mac Minis, LED Pars, Strand Lighting desks and MagicQ. Old tech now but coming from an all conventional lighting rig at Longsands it was very new.

My first show with Peppercorns was Our Finest Hour, a WW2 musical, which was performed at Bedford Corn Exchange. I was on stage for this show, my main role was setting off the smoke machines which had controllers run to my position. This was also my first paid gig, a whole £5!
