Deputy stage manager
Originally asked to design the set – before the set was hired in from an external company without my knowledge and whilst I was still designing, I was then asked to DSM for the SM Natt, who had returned to the area after at least a decade away. My duties included moving the majority of the large props, moving the car, moving the gondola (by “flintstoning” it), and handling everything on the stage right wing. I was also looking after the 4 new stage crew recruits for whom this was their first experience backstage, they were absolutely fantastic and willing to learn.
set Design
The initial set design was based from my research on the web, and included a balcony, a front door, and 4 masking flats that would be painted to match the show artwork (white brick).

After a meeting with the director, and where I was officially asked to do the set design, the following concepts were made. This included large flats that ran on curtain tracks and could be configured differently for different scenes. Although this concept never saw the stage, I will look to use tracks for moving set in the future as it could be quite useful.
